'The Approaching Storm' Acrylic on canvas, 30x40 inch, showing Chance Vought Corsair JT404 and Fairey Barracuda LS556 of Fleet Air Arm during operation Mascot. Bad weather caused the operation to fail, the Corsair crash landing on the Norwegian coast, and the Barracuda lost at sea. The Corsair was the only aircraft of it's type to be captured by the German military. I will post a clearer picture when the light is better...

The Corsair is nice, but I think it saw most of its action in the Pacific.

It did, but the Corsair also served under the Fleet Air Arm in the Atlantic.

I guess so. I though its gull wing design made it well suited to carriers too. Good painting.

It needed the gull wing, otherwise the designers couldn't use the huge propeller and combine it with short, strong landing gear.
